WARREN — The site of a new gas station and convenience store has a bit of history. The Victory Inn, a bar and restaurant, is set to be demolished for a new Sheetz location. In 2026, the business on the corner of 12 Mile and Mound roads would’ve celebrated its 80th anniversary.

WARREN — There was no one telling them they had to help out, other than maybe their conscience or lingering holiday spirit. Whatever it was, two Warren police officers went above and beyond their on-the-clock duties for a family in need.

ROSEVILLE — A Warren man was arraigned in 39th District Court Jan. 30 for allegedly robbing a bank in Roseville.

WARREN — Tim Dail and his wife Christine are lucky to be alive. On Jan. 18, the couple’s carbon monoxide detector went off. Tim started airing out the house and put in a call to his nephew, Warren firefighter Devin Rice, who called the Fire Department. The culprit was the couple’s furnace.

WARREN — Warren recently received an unmodified opinion on its annual audit.

STERLING HEIGHTS — The printing plant on the corner Mound Road and Metro Parkway, which has been cranking out papers since the early 1970s, is set to shutter in August.

WARREN — A petition to recall Warren Mayor Lori Stone citing her delayed action to establish a land bank in the city was suspended Jan. 21.

METRO DETROIT — Drastic changes to Michigan’s paid sick leave and minimum wage will go into effect Feb. 21. Both of Michigan’s major political parties are currently trying to rein in these efforts in the Legislature.

MACOMB COUNTY — The baby wasn’t going to wait. The mother’s water broke, and contractions were a minute apart. That was the scenario a dispatcher at the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center was faced with early Dec. 29.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The appointment of three members to the township’s Board of Review sailed by without incident at the Clinton Township Board of Trustees meeting on Jan. 13.

FRASER — Alan Panter, a partner at Yeo & Yeo, presented the city of Fraser with its audit for the 2023-24 fiscal year at the City Council’s Jan. 9 meeting.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A Clinton Township man was arraigned Jan. 14 for a litany of charges stemming from an incident where he allegedly held his child and the child’s mother at gunpoint.

FRASER — A special assessment district typically carries with it some unavoidable discomfort.

ROSEVILLE — A concise audit presentation revealed Roseville’s finances are in good shape, though attention will need to be paid to the city’s pension and other post-employment benefits in the future.
