CENTER LINE/WARREN/STERLING HEIGHTS — The Warren Weekly emailed local school officials for comments to find out how the new school year started off, tips for getting back into a learning routine and information on new programs slated for 2024-2025.

STERLING HEIGHTS — The Philip S. Killoran Chapter of the National Honor Society at Sterling Heights High School is holding two events this fall to raise money and awareness for the Friends of Foster Kids in Macomb County.

WARREN — As the new school year started, a press conference was held Aug. 28 at Regina High School where attendees discussed a federal bill that supporters say would give parents more choices for their children’s education.

WARREN — When voters in the Van Dyke Public Schools district head to the polls Nov. 5 for the general election, they will have the opportunity to support their school district.

ROSEVILLE — The Roseville Fire Department is among more than 180 fire departments in the state that last month received a grant from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.

EASTPOINTE — The new educators hired in Eastpointe Community Schools for the 2024-2025 school year received a warm welcome when they participated in a New Teacher Academy Aug. 13-15.

WARREN — More than 4,000 school children will have the classroom supplies they need this school year, courtesy of the Back-to-School campaign through United Way for Southeastern Michigan.

EASTPOINTE — Eastpointe Police Chief Corey Haines and Fire Chief Brian Marquardt are working together to bring the city’s Neighborhood Watch back, but they can’t do it without help from the community.

METRO DETROIT — In the mid-1990s, the Woodward Dream Cruise in Oakland County was officially established, giving classic car owners the chance to relive the heyday of cruising the avenue in their souped-up vehicles, muscle cars and vintage models.

WARREN — Five Warren Woods Public Schools students got a taste of what it’s like to go to work every day. This summer, they participated in the Make It Work program at the district’s Enterprise High School from Aug. 5-15. The students were from Enterprise and Warren Woods Tower High School.

WARREN — The Macomb Elks Club No. 2292 has existed for many years. Located at 25950 Schoenherr Road, club members have held fundraisers to help others, including veterans, children and families in need. The lodge is also available to rent for parties, baby showers and other events.

ROSEVILLE — Roseville Community Schools is turning 100 years old this year, and educators have a series of events scheduled during the 2024-2025 school year to commemorate the milestone.

EASTPOINTE — Members of the Recreation Authority of Roseville and Eastpointe want to express their gratitude to community members for all their support this past year.
