SOUTHFIELD — A 70-year-old woman died in a condo fire the afternoon of Nov. 4.

SOUTHFIELD — At its Oct. 28 meeting, the Southfield City Council voted unanimously against a Kroger gas station proposal for 19991 W. 12 Mile Road, at the former Bank of America building.

LATHRUP VILLAGE — On Nov. 5, Lathrup Village residents were presented with two cannabis proposals, one to repeal the prohibition of cannabis establishments within the boundaries of the city and one to authorize and allow cannabis businesses and establish fees and regulations for two cannabis retail facilities.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Public Library honored Indigenous People’s Day with a presentation by Darla Van Hoey, the president of the Southfield Historical Society, the day after the holiday, Oct. 15.

BIRMINGHAM/SOUTHFIELD — Father Chris Yaw, the rector at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Southfield, said that his 88-year-old dad has a great sense of humor. When asked how many children he has, he’ll respond, “Four ... so far.”

SOUTHFIELD — Police were notified at 2:42 a.m. Oct. 18 that a wanted vehicle had entered the city of Southfield.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Police Department held a press conference Oct. 7 detailing a home invasion and armed robbery that took place at a rabbi’s home in Southfield.

SOUTHFIELD — At 11:30 p.m. Oct. 5, the Southfield Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at a single-story home on Spring Arbor Drive, where they located two dogs and 13 puppies inside, relocating the dogs outside the structure.

LATHRUP VILLAGE — On Nov. 5, Lathrup Village residents will vote on whether or not the city should repeal the prohibition on cannabis establishments in the city’s boundaries.

SOUTHFIELD — The City Council unanimously approved a plan to adapt and reuse the Holiday Inn building at 25100 Northwestern Highway for multiple-family residential use Sept. 30.

SOUTHFIELD — The Centrepolis Accelerator at Lawrence Technological University’s C3 Summit featured cleantech, climate and circular economy companies that drew in a crowd of 400 attendees.

SOUTHFIELD — The Michigan Wildlife Council hosted its first-ever Harvest to Table Gala Oct. 1 at the Great Lakes Culinary Center, 24101 West Nine Mile Road, showcasing the hunting, fishing and foraging heritage in Michigan and the role these natural resources play in addressing hunger statewide.
