SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Students from the Gene L. Klida Utica Academy for International Studies joined 319 of the top high school quiz bowl teams at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis for the 2024 High School National Championship Tournament to determine who was the best May 25.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Two cyclists, Mike DeLorenzo, of Romeo, and Thomas Henry, of Ferndale, are getting ready for Pedal4ALS, a more than 500-mile ride to raise $20,000 to support ALS of Michigan, a Southfield-based nonprofit serving Michigan’s ALS community, in memory of DeLorenzo’s father-in-law, from Shelby Township, who passed away from the disease.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — U.S. Rep. John James returned home to Shelby Township April 24 with a very hefty grant that will go toward supporting upgrades to the Shelby Township Activities Center gymnasium.

UTICA — The Detroit Institute of Arts recently announced the Macomb County communities that will be participating in the 2024 Inside|Out program, and Utica is one of the cities.
