BLOOMFIELD HILLS — There was a lot to be excited about for Birmingham Brother Rice boys basketball last season behind a trio of all-State talent.

BIRMINGHAM — Boise State University perfected one of the most iconic Statue of Liberty plays during the 2007 Fiesta Bowl against the University of Oklahoma, but what if I told you that a group of girls in the SNAP Flag Football League did it better?

GROSSE POINTE WOODS — Continuing its legacy as the No. 1 golf club for Evans Scholars, the Western Golf Association awarded three Evans Scholarships to caddies at the Lochmoor Club in Grosse Pointe Woods.

UTICA — Defense wins championships, and in the case of Utica boys basketball, it results in the school’s first league title since 2012.

TROY — Troy boys basketball has been through their fair share of trials and tribulations their past two seasons, sporting a 19-18 record over a two-year span.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — It’s been a long time coming for L’Anse Creuse High School-North wrestling, but North is back on top in the Macomb Area Conference’s Silver division.

FRASER — He was always the fastest kid around growing up, and it was in large part to his elite-level acceleration.

MACOMB COUNTY — The 2022 hockey season didn’t play out in the favor of the  teams representing Macomb Dakota High School and Chippewa Valley High School, but there was a distinct difference for both. Dakota struggled with an 8-15 season, and Chippewa Valley didn’t even have a team to put on the ice.

MADISON HEIGHTS — There were a lot of expectations surrounding Madison Heights Lamphere boys basketball going into this season and its veteran core of nine seniors.

ST CLAIR SHORES — It was bad enough that St. Clair Shores Lakeview boys basketball lost in their first game in districts last season, but a loss at the hands of city rival St. Clair Shores Lake Shore made it even more painful.

ST CLAIR SHORES — St. Clair Shores Lakeview bowling’s success this season shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone — it was written in the stars long before this season took place.

FRASER — It was a tough ride in 2022 for the Fraser Ramblers.

STERLING HEIGHTS — There’s emphasizing a defensive mindset, and then there’s prioritizing the defensive unit night in and night out.

BIRMINGHAM — Birmingham Seaholm senior Grayson Davis earned first place at the Boys Oakland County Championship Dive Tournament Feb. 3 at Royal Oak Middle School.
