MADISON HEIGHTS/WARREN — The Warren Police Department’s Special Investigations Division has continued its momentum from a busy spring.

MADISON HEIGHTS — New playscapes are coming to Rosie’s Park and Civic Center Park, and a new pavilion is in the works for Rosie’s Park, as well. Along with the disc golf course that recently opened at Rosie’s Park, the changes represent efforts by the Madison Heights City Council to improve quality of life in the community’s green spaces.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Red Oaks Waterpark is set to open for the summer season June 25, and guests can look forward to the return of the popular River Ride after its closure last year due to staffing issues.

HAZEL PARK/MADISON HEIGHTS — A tense situation at Best Buy in Madison Heights escalated quickly when two teens, armed with a gun, allegedly tried to escape with their stolen goods, leading police on a high-speed chase across multiple communities that ended in a crash.

HAZEL PARK — Green thumbs across southeast Michigan are invited to request seeds for marigold flowers and then grow them at home, so that their blooms can be donated to a massive walk-through art installation this fall in Hazel Park.

METRO DETROIT — Six C & G Newspapers staffers recently received a total of 11 Society of Professional Journalists Detroit Excellence in Journalism awards in the print Class C category — circulation over 15,000.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Last month, Families Against Narcotics launched a new chapter targeted to help people with addiction in Oakland County.
