WARREN — After breaking Warren Cousino High School’s home run record with 13 last season, senior Taylor Carraway was destined to earn the all-state honor.
Slashing a .432 average with seven home runs and 33 RBIs, Carraway was named first-team all-state by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association for the 2022 season.
Carraway, who is committed to Oakland University, was a leader behind the plate throwing out 18 runners and carrying a .967 fielding percentage.
In 95 at-bats, Carraway struck out only twice, holding a .457 on-base percentage.
“I always try to step into the box with an approach that’s going to help the team the most,” Carraway said. “I’m usually up there looking for one specific pitch I know I can put a good swing on.”
Carraway also carried a 3.92 grade-point average and earned academic all-State honors.
