WARREN — Two people were arrested and one may be facing charges after they were involved in an overnight standoff with Warren police.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. July 25, Warren police responded to a call from a citizen who stated they were being shot at from a location on Schoenherr Road north of Eight Mile Road.
When officers arrived, they found a 55-year-old man and his 43-year-old girlfriend had been barricaded in a commercial building at 21042 Schoenherr, Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said.
Negotiators began talking to the man at around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday and continued throughout the night. At 4:30 a.m., the Warren Police Special Response Team was activated, and at approximately 6:25 a.m., the suspect surrendered, Dwyer said.
The woman was also arrested and was expected to be interviewed by detectives.
The department is seeking warrants to charge the man with assault with a dangerous weapon, a felony; ethnic intimidation, also a felony; and for firing a weapon carelessly or recklessly, a misdemeanor. He also has outstanding warrants in other counties.
Dwyer said the man is expected to be arraigned July 27.
