SOUTHFIELD — Southfield A&T’s season may be over, but there’s a lot to be excited about heading into the 2023 season.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — After solidifying an already impressive resume at Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood, senior Owen DeMuth was awarded the Bob Wood Mr. Tennis Award for the 2022 season by the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — In a season of adversity and perseverance for Bloomfield Hills Marian volleyball, revenge would be the final step for the five-time state champions.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Eisenhower High School varsity boys bowling took the Michigan bowling world by storm last year, earning the Macomb Area Conference-Red title and a shot at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 state championship.

METRO DETROIT — The NHL had the Las Vegas Golden Knights and the Seattle Kraken. Now, the Motor City Rockers (9-3) have established themselves as a successful expansion team in the Federal Prospects Hockey League.

FARMINGTON — It’s been two years since Farmington swim earned the fourth-place spot at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 State Finals behind a trio of seniors in Katie Larick, Madeline Greaves and Kristen Fleming.10

FARMINGTON HILLS — Farmington Hills Mercy has held a legacy of success in girls swimming with seven state championships in school history, but it was up to its young core this season to prove that Mercy was still a force to be reckoned with.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — After failing to qualify for the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division I State Finals in 2021, West Bloomfield swim made its mark this season Nov. 19 at Oakland University.

ORCHARD LAKE — After taking up the sport in fifth grade, football became a huge part of life for Orchard Lake St. Mary’s graduate and Royal Oak resident Sean Clouse.

WARREN — De La Salle Collegiate is on top for the second straight year in Division 2 football.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — Macomb Dakota is a powerhouse in Division 1 high school football, and there’s no disputing that.

WARREN — De La Salle football has not only built off the momentum of last year’s perfect season, but they are also one game away from taking their third straight trip to Ford Field for the Michigan High School Athletic Association football state championship.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — Dakota High School girls golf went above and beyond expectations in the 2022 season.

STERLING HEIGHTS — It was an unconventional route to the regional finals for Sterling Heights Parkway Christian. After dropping five of their first six games and allowing 28 points per game during that stretch, Parkway Christian (6-6) tallied three straight wins to punch their ticket into the playoffs.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Let’s go back to Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse football in 2018.

FARMINGTON — Sophomore sensation Molly Baracco had a season to remember in 2022.

GROSSE POINTE WOODS — Three Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett School seniors turned their baseball dreams into reality by signing on the dotted line Nov. 10 at University Liggett High School.

BIRMINGHAM — Birmingham Seaholm had one goal in mind during its trip to the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 Boys Tennis State Finals.
