SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Shelby Township Police Department is inviting the public to its upcoming Police Department open house.
The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at the department’s facility located at 52530 Van Dyke Ave.
Sgt. Mark Benedettini, from the Shelby Township Police Department, said the department’s personnel look forward to seeing everyone and that the event wouldn’t be possible without the relationships that the department has with the community.
“We look forward to hosting this open house every year so our residents and business owners can get an inside look at our department and the equipment that we utilize on a daily basis. Shelby Township has a top-notch police department, in my opinion — the best department in the state — and it wouldn’t be possible without the relationships that we have with our residents and business owners. So we look forward to seeing them come out every year,” Benedettini said in an email.
He said there will be fun activities ranging from drone demonstrations to bounce houses. People will be able to see police vehicles and equipment up close.
“We will be able to give the residents an inside look (at) the police department and the equipment that the officers use on a daily basis. We will have K-9 demonstrations, Tactical Response Unit, Drone Unit, Hostage Negotiators and many other things highlighting our department. We will also have a bounce house for kids, will be giving away several prizes, and will also have free food,” said Benedettini.
The police dog demonstrations will be held at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
“It will be packed full of fun, and we will look forward to seeing you all there!” the department stated in a press release.
