SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Boutique salon Bell Amore’s owners have faced huge challenges in the past few years, but they continue to have a focus on the community.
Founded in 2014, Bell Amore moved to a bigger site in Shelby Township, 46877 Hayes Road, during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is owned by Naomi Trotto and her father, Michael Bernock.
While moving and keeping a salon in business during the pandemic, they also got the news that Naomi’s son, Tyler Trotto, 14, a student at Shelby Junior High School, was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Approximately a year later, the three have pulled together to organize a blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Dec. 21 in honor of Tyler Trotto. In addition to the blood drive, Tyler Trotto also is hosting his own 50/50 raffle to earn money for a new computer.
The last year has been a tough lesson in resilience, according to Naomi Trotto.
“Giving up is absolutely never an option. Our mission is to create Career Beauty Professionals, while also providing a guest-centered experience. We are so happy to be here to grow in Shelby Township and continue our mission,” she said in an email.
Bernock said that they value the community and their role in it as business owners.
“Being a family-owned small business, we understand the importance of being a part of our community. We’ve all seen difficult times in the past couple of years, so it’s important that we band together and support each other as our businesses recover,” he said via email.
Earlier this month, on Dec. 3, Bell Amore hosted a basket raffle and customer appreciation event as Naomi Trotto and Bernock hope to build new relationships and help numerous causes.
“We are bringing love and care to our community, through community events and charity,” Bernock said.
