METRO DETROIT — School districts statewide will receive more in per-pupil funding during the 2022-2023 school year.

WARREN — Even though the calendar reads July, Briarwood Elementary School and Enterprise High School have been welcoming students to class in Warren Woods Public Schools this summer.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — Over the course of the past seven months, West Bloomfield resident Adedoyin Adebayo has graduated from both high school and college and has been accepted into Harvard University.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Albert Morrison, the former board president of the Madison District Public Schools, who in April was indicted on federal charges of tax evasion and failure to file tax returns, now faces an additional charge of conspiracy to commit bribery.

CLAWSON/ROYAL OAK — Come fall, students will see three new administrators in the Clawson and Royal Oak public school districts.

EASTPOINTE — Eastpointe Community Schools has entered into a partnership with Northern Michigan University to provide a pathway to teaching certification for district staff members.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — There’s a new face at the head of Clintondale Middle School. Maria Romain, the former assistant principal at Clintondale High School, is the new middle school principal.

NOVI — After a lengthy interview process, the Novi Community School District Board of Education voted unanimously to select Benjamin Mainka as its next superintendent during a meeting June 30.

TROY — Troy Public Schools Board of Education Trustee Steve Gottlieb has been elected to the Oakland County Board of Education by the boards of Oakland County’s 28 school districts. Gottlieb will serve for a six-year term that began July 1.

GROSSE POINTE FARMS — The National Park Service might bring to mind rustic, wild places like Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon, but would you believe there’s also a connection to places like historical museums and automotive plants?

FERNDALE — The new superintendent of Ferndale Public Schools is ready and excited to get to work.
