EASTPOINTE — An investment adviser will help Eastpointe Community Schools with its $36.4 million bond issue that passed at the polls Aug. 8, 2023.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Klezmer music is now represented within the Bloomfield Hills High School music department, through the  BHHS klezmer ensemble.

FERNDALE — The next musical from the theater program at Ferndale High School and Ferndale Middle School will celebrate the world of spelling bees.

TROY — The Troy School District Board of Education voted unanimously Feb. 27 to adjust its match amount for the Turtle Woods property in order to improve its chances at receiving a grant from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund so the land can be turned into a protected wildlife area.

FRASER — Fraser Public Schools selected its three Teachers of the Year this February, each of whom will be considered for the county’s Teacher of the Year awards for the elementary, middle and high school levels.

ROSEVILLE — With the motto “bringing out the best in kids,” the Roseville Optimist Club has been helping children in the community since it formed in 1992.

BIRMINGHAM — On March 9, Birmingham Public School fourth and fifth graders will compete in the Baldwin Public Library’s Battle of the Books at 10 a.m. at Groves High School.

WARREN — The Lincoln High School clothes closet is open for business. Stocked with gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, personal hygiene products and books, the store — located near the cafeteria — is open during lunch for students.

WARREN — For 23 years, James Bailey worked as a human resources executive for General Motors Co., where he oversaw 10 automobile plants in three countries with a total of 28,000 employees.

WARREN — For comic strip fans, there’s a new artist in town. Beer Middle School eighth grade student Nasra Abdullah is the talent behind a new cartoon panel currently featured in digital format. Beer is part of the Warren Consolidated Schools district.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — Earlier this year, the West Bloomfield School District announced the decision to transition from five elementary schools to four beginning in the fall term later this year.

ROSEVILLE — Roseville Community Schools staff members, along with students in grades three to 12, will start the 2024-2025 school year with brand-new computers.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — If testing one’s abilities is the path to improving one’s craft, Chippewa Valley Musical Productions is preparing itself for Broadway.

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Public School District community is on edge following allegations of  racial and cultural discrimination within the  school district. 

ROSEVILLE — Every day, Roseville Middle School social worker Danielle Lewis works to make a positive impact on students.

FRASER — A student group based out of Fraser High School and Richards Middle School was recently awarded a $10,000 grant to help combat bullying and promote mental health among local teenagers.

TROY — Troy and Athens high school students showed off their school spirit this month with their Activist Week and Charity Week programs, spirit weeks in which they raise money for worthy nonprofits.

TROY — On Feb. 14, four Troy teachers got a very special surprise as their colleagues, families and students honored them as the district’s Teachers of the Year.
