Police investigate fatal crash with semi-truck

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — The Bloomfield Township Police Department is investigating following a fatal traffic crash near Telegraph Road and Old Telegraph Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sept. 13.

Officers arrived on scene to find a heavily damaged semi-truck in the roadway of northbound Telegraph Road and a heavily damaged SUV in a wooded area across the street.

Initial investigation indicates the driver of the SUV attempted to cross the northbound lanes of Telegraph Road from southbound Old Telegraph Road without yielding the right of way. As the SUV crossed northbound Telegraph, the semi-truck reportedly struck the SUV on the driver’s door, sending the SUV across Telegraph and into the woods.

The driver and lone occupant of the SUV was deceased when first responders arrived. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

The incident is under investigation by Bloomfield Township Traffic Investigators. If anyone has information related to this crash, call (248) 433-7755.

The Bloomfield Township Police Department was assisted on the scene by the Bloomfield Township Fire Department, and police officers from Bloomfield Hills, Sylvan Lake, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, and Troy.
