WARREN — A mother fatally shot her son then killed herself in what police said was a murder-suicide in the 13000 block of Geoffrey Drive, near 12 Mile and Schoenherr roads, Oct. 20.

FERNDALE — The Ferndale Police Department has arrested an individual accused of inappropriate physical contacts with women in the area.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A 28-year-old Southfield man was arraigned in 41B District Court Oct. 17 for the murder of his former coworker at a Harrison Township business.

MACOMB COUNTY — Issuing threats against places of learning is no laughing matter and serious consequences await those who try. Officials warn students and others from attempting such an act.

MADISON HEIGHTS — An ex-boyfriend and girlfriend are recovering after injuring each other in an altercation where police believe the man held the woman at gunpoint, prompting her to stab him in self-defense before he shot her and fled the scene.

FERNDALE — The Ferndale Police Department is searching for a person of interest who the department said has had inappropriate interactions with women in the area.

EASTPOINTE — A 26-year-old school security guard has been charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree after he was accused of having sex with a female student at Eastpointe High School. 

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A 28-year-old Southfield man was arraigned in 41B District Court Oct. 17 for the murder of his former coworker at a Harrison Township business.

SOUTHFIELD — The Southfield Police Department held a press conference Oct. 7 detailing a home invasion and armed robbery that took place at a rabbi’s home in Southfield.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The Clinton Township Police Department celebrated earning accreditation at an Oct. 9 ceremony at the department’s headquarters.

EASTPOINTE — Officers with the Eastpointe Police Department have been issued new Taser models and are currently being trained in their use, something that officials hope will increase safety for both police and the public at large.

SOUTHFIELD — At 11:30 p.m. Oct. 5, the Southfield Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at a single-story home on Spring Arbor Drive, where they located two dogs and 13 puppies inside, relocating the dogs outside the structure.

ROCHESTER HILLS — A jailed Rochester Hills doctor is facing an additional 17 felony charges connected to six alleged sexual assaults in 2023 and 2024 involving a 5-year-old girl in Novi.

WARREN — The Hundred Club of Detroit recently awarded six Warren Police Department officers with the 2024 Valor Award for heroic action at their annual awards banquet at the Detroit Athletic Club.

ROYAL OAK — Andrew Lester, a 44-year-old Pontiac man, was fatally struck by an Amtrak train in Royal Oak on the morning of Oct. 12.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — On Oct. 4, Knights of Columbus Council No. 13983, from St. Kieran Catholic Church, presented the Shelby Township Fire Department with three dozen “Casey” teddy bears. The teddy bears are to be given to traumatized children at fire and auto accidents scenes.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — On Oct. 7, the mayor of St. Clair Shores and City Council members blasted Michigan Attorney Dana Nessel’s decision to bring felony charges against three election workers and four residents after the residents reportedly voted twice in the August primary election.

WARREN — A Warren Mott High School student was arrested Oct. 8 and is reportedly facing charges after he allegedly made threats against the school last month.
