ROCHESTER — Two of the Rochester Police Department’s four-legged members have retired.

GROSSE POINTES/HARPER WOODS — A relatively new nonprofit is hoping to bring license plate readers and surveillance cameras to the five Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods as a way to reduce and deter crime.

SOUTHFIELD — For the first time in city history, Southfield’s parking enforcement vehicles have been replaced with brand-new vehicles, according to Donovan Fann, the code enforcement supervisor for the city of Southfield.

BERKLEY — A 19-year-old Detroit man was arrested in connection to a drag racing incident at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, near Woodward Avenue and 12 Mile Road.

PLEASANT RIDGE — Pleasant Ridge officially has sworn in its new chief of police. At a March 12 City Commission meeting, Robert Ried took his oath of office to become the newest police chief of Pleasant Ridge. He succeeds Kevin Nowak, who retired last October.

GROSSE POINTE SHORES — Grosse Pointe Shores residents might have noticed a couple of new faces in uniform around town in recent weeks.

GROSSE POINTE WOODS/DETROIT — A plea deal is likely in the case of Edmond Doheny, the Grosse Pointe Woods man accused of murdering his younger brother, Dennis Doheny, in the early morning hours of Oct. 6.

MOUNT CLEMENS — On March 13, Fraser resident Hunter Locke-Hughes was ordered to serve 90 months to 30 years in prison on first-degree child abuse and involuntary manslaughter charges in the drowning death of Terry Adams, a 6-year-old special needs child.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — The Bloomfield Township Police Department is investigating an incident of stranger-danger involving a suspicious vehicle and a middle school student.

FARMINGTON HILLS — A suspect has been charged following an assault that took place at a YMCA located at 28100 Farmington Road in Farmington Hills.

TROY/ROCHESTER HILLS — A 30-year-old woman from Florida was fatally struck by a motorist on M-59 in Rochester Hills the morning of March 15, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. 

WEST BLOOMFIELD — More than 20 years ago, Dale Young had a conversation with his father that changed the course of his life.

EASTPOINTE — With its emergency lights flashing and a crowd of people gathering, Eastpointe’s brand-new firetruck arrived at the station the morning of March 8.

WARREN — Two Warren police officers were charged with assault last summer for their alleged actions during a traffic stop. The officers were later fired by the Warren Police Department for misconduct, and a settlement was reportedly paid to the victim at the agreement of city attorneys with the authorization of the city’s former administration.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The on-site investigation into the March 4 fire at a Clinton Township business has begun, according to township officials.

WARREN — A Warren man was arraigned in the 37th District Court on March 4 and charged with 15 felonies for allegedly driving while drunk, reckless driving and causing a fatal accident.

SOUTHFIELD — Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren said he is very happy with the new gun laws that took effect last month in Michigan.

GROSSE POINTES — A suspect who has reportedly confessed to 12 home invasions throughout metro Detroit in recent weeks — including several in the Grosse Pointes — has been arrested.

BERKLEY — A fire in Berkley almost destroyed a garage, but nearby DTE Energy workers were able to assist in preventing the blaze from spreading.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — Recent reports of traffic obstruction and graffiti have gotten the attention of the West Bloomfield Police Department.
