Park, trail construction planned
In a June 10 Facebook post, the Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation Department said it is planning some upkeep to the city’s parks and trails in the months ahead.

This will include resurfacing the trail from Farmstead Park to Donovan Park, resurfacing and expanding Mark Sawyers Family Park’s trail system, and rerouting a trail at North Clinton River Park’s Nature Center Bridge. Crews also plan to rebuild the Beaver Creek Park parking lot.

While these projects go on, pathways may be closed temporarily, the city warned. Learn more by emailing questions to recreation@sterling-heights.net or by calling (586) 446-2700.

Residents asked to water on alternating days
As in previous years, Sterling Heights is asking residents to curtail their outdoor water use from now until Labor Day by only watering on either odd or even days, according to a property address’s last digit.

In other words, odd addresses are encouraged to do outside watering on odd-numbered calendar dates, and even addresses should water on even dates. Outdoor water use may include car washes, swimming pools and lawns.

The city is also asking residents to curtail their outdoor watering between 5 and 9 a.m. and 6 and 9 p.m., and to irrigate lawns between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Doing these things can help keep water rate increases under control, officials said. Learn more by calling the Department of Public Works at (586) 446-2440.
