Novi Police Department to ‘Stuff a Squad Car’
The Novi Police Department is collecting new and unwrapped toys for children in need through its annual Stuff a Squad Car event, which benefits the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign. The department will have the squad car at Walmart, 26090 Ingersol Drive in Novi, noon-6 p.m. Nov. 25 and 26 to collect donations.
Novi hires new assistant city manager
The city of Novi announced the hiring of Danielle Mahoney as the new assistant city manager Nov. 13. Mahoney comes to Novi from Cary, North Carolina, where she served as the town’s assistant director of research and development.
According to a press release, Mahoney is passionate about innovation, change management, technology implementation and organizational development. She attended North Carolina State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, as well as a Master of Public Administration. She also has earned certificates from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.
Novi students among 8,000 who attend MiCareerQuest Southeast
After a four-year hiatus, MiCareerQuest Southeast returned to metro Detroit. Eight thousand students and teachers from 100 high schools participated in the region’s largest career exploration event, which covered more than 400,000 square feet of floor space 8:15 a.m.-2:15 p.m. Nov. 14 at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.
Nearly 1,000 professionals from 119 exhibitors in the fields of advanced manufacturing, construction, health sciences and technology taught students about 180 in-demand careers using hands-on, interactive activities.

Yard waste collection deadline approaches
The city of Novi yard waste collection deadline is the second week of December. Yard waste must be in paper yard waste bags or a reusable container no larger than 35 gallons. Self-adhesive yard waste stickers are available at no cost at the Novi Civic Center, 45175 W. 10 Mile Road.
Novi parks and library to host 12 days of holiday programming
The Novi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department and the Novi Public Library are collaborating to sponsor 12 days of holiday programming at the Lakeshore Lodge Dec. 4-15.
The events will start at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4 with Wacky Winter Science Fun with Mad Science of Detroit. Other events will include cornhole tournaments, an owl prowl with Kensington Metropark nature interpreter Justin Smith, making a glass fusion Christmas tree night light/tealight, holiday trivia, lunch with Santa, wreath-making, cardio drumming to holiday music, snowball fights, making gingerbread houses, night hikes around the lake with cocoa and smores, and a senior holiday luncheon, and a Novi holiday history event will round out the festivities.
