WARREN — Police officers were dispatched at approximately 2:12 a.m. Nov. 8 to a home in the 11000 block of Paige Avenue where they found one man dead in a nearby backyard.

First responders at the scene north of Nine Mile Road between Van Dyke Avenue and Hoover Road located a 23-year-old man who was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds.

Officers spoke with several people present, who said the incident may have resulted from a domestic violence dispute involving the victim, his ex-girlfriend and possibly members of her family.

Information gathered from the police investigation led them to a residence in the 11000 block of Jewett Avenue, about six blocks north of where the body was found, where a barricaded gunman incident ended. The special response team attempted to contact the people inside the home. Police questioned two women who were at the residence. Both were taken without incident to the Warren Police Department for further questioning.

Police learned that a 32-year-old male relative of one of the women was likely involved in the shooting. He was inside a residence in the 27000 block of Thomas Drive where members of the Warren Police Department Special Response Team were able to take him into custody without incident. A third woman was also taken from the residence and transported to the police department for further questioning.

The investigation remained open and active Nov. 11. When the investigation concludes, detectives will present their findings to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine charges.
