CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Clinton Township is moving closer to getting a park with greater accessibility for disabled children.

FARMINGTON HILLS — Farmington Hills resident Claudette Wellons recently spent part of her Tuesday morning at the Costick Center and said it is “excellent” that parks and recreation activities are funded.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — As the landscape grows in at Macomb Township’s newest park, volunteers spent the morning hours of Arbor Day on April 26 planting trees in the southern end of Pitchford Park as the first step of growing a hummingbird garden.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — Voters in West Bloomfield have been tasked with deciding whether to approve a 20-year, $25 million bond proposal for the West Bloomfield Parks and Recreation Commission.

HAZEL PARK — The playscape at Green Acres Park has received updated equipment and quadrupled in size, thanks to a major investment by Oakland County Parks.

OAKLAND COUNTY — On a recent sunny and pleasant Monday morning, Clawson resident David Swanson found himself where so many Michiganders like to be this time of year – on a golf course.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — With roots planted by two previous Cool City Committee members, the St. Clair Shores Community Garden has been thriving over the last couple of years. Now, it is preparing for the new season.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — Officials in Macomb Township look to make the most of April’s showers to grow May flowers, as the Board of Trustees on April 11 accepted grant funds to plant a hummingbird garden at Pitchford Park.

EASTPOINTE — The city of Eastpointe is working to provide residents with another way to enjoy summer fun.

EASTPOINTE/ROSEVILLE — Officials are in the process of updating the Recreation Authority of Roseville and Eastpointe’s Joint Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

ROYAL OAK — Improvements to a pocket park located at the intersection of 13 Mile Road and Main Street were unanimously approved at the Feb. 12 City Commission meeting.

ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester Hills is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year with a large investment into its parks system.

FERNDALE — Wilson Park’s improvements are slated to begin in early April. At a Feb. 26 meeting, the Ferndale City Council voted to approve a bid proposal for the construction and construction management of Wilson Park’s upcoming improvement project.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — In a 6-0 vote at their meeting on Feb. 20, the St. Clair Shores City Council approved a request to increase contingency costs for the pool pump house project.

NOVI — New pickleball courts and parking lots will soon be seen at Meadowbrook Commons and Wildlife Woods Park.

FERNDALE — The Parks and Recreation Commission in Ferndale has a lot of goals in mind for 2024.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Oakland County Parks is announcing several projects made possible through its $20 million Healthy Communities Park and Outdoor Recreation Investment Plan.

TROY — A portion of the upcoming Troy skating ribbon and event venue at Jeanne M. Stine Park will move forward thanks to a significant contribution from the Troy Community Foundation.

ROYAL OAK — Improvements are to be made at Dickinson Park after the City Commission gave unanimous approval to a proposal from the Recreation Department Jan. 22.
