1. Fire & Ice Festival
Jan. 20-21 • Rochester

An ice carving competition, a climbing wall, cornhole, face painting, ax throwing, kids games, music, marshmallow toasting and a fireworks display are some of the many free activities expected at the Fire & Ice Festival from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at East Third and Water streets in Rochester. The Rochester Fire Department will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. both evenings; there will also be a Food Truck Rally and a Tastefest Tent available throughout the weekend. A free shuttle can be taken from Buffalo Wild Wings, 1234 Walton Blvd. in Rochester Hills. 2. Cold Rush
Jan. 21 • Warren

Living up to its name, the real-feel temperature will be around 30 degrees during Cold Rush, scheduled for 2-9 p.m. Saturday at Warren City Hall, 1 City Square. Check out ice sculptures, do some outdoor skating, warm up with hot cocoa and s’mores over a bonfire, patronize a local food truck and more. Admission and parking are free, as will be most activities. For more information, visit cityofwarren.org/events/cold-rush.


3. 'Clue: On Stage' 
Jan. 20-22 • Royal Oak

Based on the 1985 movie and inspired by the classic board game, "Clue: On Stage" will combine comedy, murder and mystery during its run Jan. 20-Feb. 5 at the Baldwin Theatre, 415 S. Lafayette Ave. in Royal Oak. Showtimes for the Stagecrafters performances are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. 'Winnie the Pooh' and 'National Geographic Live'
On the east side, Macomb Community College's Center Campus, 44575 Garfield Road in Clinton Township, will play host to two events on the big stage. The musical "Winnie the Pooh" will take place at 7 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday at the Macomb Center for the Perfoming Arts. For more information, visit macombcenter.com or call (586) 286-2222. 4. 'Van Gogh in America'
Ends Jan. 22 • Detroit

The "Van Gogh in America" exhibit will be on display one final weekend at the Detroit Institute of Arts, 5200 Woodward Ave. See 74 of his authentic works from around the world from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The DIA was the first public museum in the United States to purchase a painting by Vincent van Gogh, his "Self-Portrait" (1887); this year marks the 100th anniversary of that acquisition. Mount Clemens
The Anton Art Center, 125 Macomb Place in Mount Clemens, will host an opening reception and awards ceremony for "Small Works" at 2 p.m. Saturday. 5. Bridal Show
