ROYAL OAK — The Royal Oak City Commission unanimously approved a service agreement in the amount of $20,000 with Royal Oak Youth Assistance at the March 24 meeting.

METRO DETROIT — Hospice of Michigan is looking for compassionate volunteers in Macomb and Oakland counties to create “Memory Bears” to comfort bereaved family members coping with the loss of a loved one.

STERLING HEIGHTS — For nearly 100 years, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen has fed the hungry in Detroit. It’s challenging work, strained by cost increases due to inflation, supply chain issues, uncertain federal funding and growing demand as more people need help. Last year, its pantry provided 3.4 million pounds of food — a 24% increase from 2023.

SOUTHFIELD — Thanks to a $35,000 grant from the Byron and Dorothy Gerson Innovation Fund, individuals with disabilities can take a driving assessment through STISIM Drive, a driving simulator that helps determine an individual’s potential driving capabilities.
