SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Shelby Township Police Department is inviting the public to its upcoming Police Department open house.

STERLING HEIGHTS — The Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce wants you to come to Dodge Park hungry Sept. 9.

HAZEL PARK — Organizers for the Hazel Park Art Fair, now in its 10th year, hope it will build on the momentum of last year’s record-setting show that was attended by more than 4,000 people.

METRO DETROIT — Since its start almost 15 years ago, Capt. Greg Virga has held a community-backed event for war veterans in an effort to give back to those who sacrificed so much.

SOUTHFIELD — Last year saw the return of the Kimmie Horne Jazz Festival after its cancellation in 2020 due to the pandemic. Officials say its return last year was stronger than ever, and they’re looking for another strong showing this year.

FERNDALE — Ferndale, where the Woodward Dream Cruise began in 1995, is planning the event’s return home.

BINGHAM FARMS — The village of Bingham Farms will come together for the second year for its Family Fest Aug. 13.

EASTPOINTE/ST. CLAIR SHORES — Chris Causley stood in his garage in St. Clair Shores on a warm August afternoon, surrounded by an assortment of military vehicles in various stages of repair. His most recent acquisition, three Clark Kat Model 30 tugs with chipped orange paint that he paid for out of his own pocket, were parked just inside the door.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS/BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — Two properties in the Bloomfield area are among 14 historic Michigan properties recently added to the National Register of Historic Places.
