BERKLEY — A stub street in Berkley will be closed indefinitely as the city looks to activate it for downtown usage.

BERKLEY — After two consecutive years of issues pertaining to safety at Berkley Days, the City Council last week passed a resolution directing city staff to prepare an ordinance to ban carnivals.

PLEASANT RIDGE — Pleasant Ridge’s City Commission approved a permanent change for two-sided parking on Sylvan Avenue.

FERNDALE — Downtown Ferndale was packed with visitors the weekend of Sept. 20-22 for the Funky Ferndale Art Fair and DIY Street Fair.

BERKLEY — The city of Berkley will be holding a gathering for residents to meet the candidates for city manager.

FERNDALE — The DIY Street Fair is back for another year in downtown Ferndale.

FERNDALE — The Funky Ferndale Art Fair is back again for its 20th year. The Funky Ferndale Art Fair will take place Sept. 20-22 in the downtown on West Nine Mile Road with more than 110 artists participating in the juried show and other authors and artists participating as well.

FERNDALE — Danny’s Irish Pub lived to see another day. At a Ferndale City Council meeting on Aug. 26, the council moved to deny the transfer of a Class C liquor license for Miracle Mound LLC to the site of Danny’s Irish Pub, located at 22824 Woodward Ave.

FERNDALE — Family, friends and a community are mourning after a student from University High School was killed in a shooting at the Michigan State Fair. Darean Davis, of Detroit, was shot in the parking lot outside the fair in Novi Aug. 31. He was 14.

METRO DETROIT — A garden can be more than a patch of beautiful landscaping. It can be a lifeline for nature.
