MACOMB/WAYNE COUNTY — The candidates who won their respective state and county primary races Aug. 2 are now preparing their campaigns for the general election Nov. 8.

OAKLAND COUNTY/WAYNE COUNTY — In the primary election Aug. 2, Mike McFall, the mayor pro tem of Hazel Park, secured the Democratic nomination for the newly redrawn 8th District of the State House of Representatives. He defeated Madison Heights City Councilman David Soltis, Durrel Douglas, Ernest Little and Ryan Nelson.

METRO DETROIT — State Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Detroit, will be squaring off against Republican Martell D. Bivings in the race for the newly drawn 13th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in November. Both candidates also will be running against independent write-in candidate Anthony Carbonaro.
