1. Italian Happening
July 24 • Rochester Municipal Park
Italian bikes and cars will be displayed from noon to 3 p.m. July 24 at Rochester Municipal Park, 391 Albertson St. Admission is free, but the cost to show off a vehicle is $25. Guests can bring a picnic lunch or make a purchase from a food truck; no alcohol allowed. The event has been a tradition since 1979, but this year is moving from the fall to the summer. 2. Armenia Fest
July 23 • Royal Oak Farmers Market
The Royal Oak Farmers Market, 316 E. 11 Mile Road, will be transformed into a Middle Eastern bazaar during Armenia Fest July 23. The free event will run from 5 to 10 p.m., and will feature booths exhibiting crafts, artwork, souvenirs, music, cookbooks and jewelry. Authentic Armenian food, including kebabs, stuffed grape leaves, pastries and breads, will be available for purchase. The Armenia Fest All-Stars will play traditional and contemporary Armenian music, while the Armenian Dance Company of Chicago will perform folk dance routines in authentic costumes. 3. Stony Creek Art Fair
July 23-24 • Stony Creek Metropark, Shelby Township
The Stony Creek Art Fair will feature around 80 juried artists from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 23 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 24 at Baypoint Beach at Stony Creek Metropark, 4300 Main Park Drive in Shelby Township. 4. Lake St. Clair Science Fair
July 23 • Ford House, Grosse Pointe Shores
The Lake St. Clair Science Fair will take place at noon July 23 at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, 1100 Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe Shores. Learn about geology, habitats, invasive species, water quality, ecology and the ways people use the lake for recreation and artistic inspiration. There will also be storytime, boat building, a fishing game, water cycle activities and more. Admission costs $5, but ages 3 and younger can attend for free. 5. 'Pippin'
July 22-24 • Berman Center for the Performing Arts, West Bloomfield
The Nicely Theatre Group will perform "Pippin" at 7:30 p.m. July 22-23 and 2 p.m. July 24 at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts, 6600 W. Maple Road in West Bloomfield. The musical, which debuted on Broadway in 1972 and has won multiple Tony awards, follows the story of a young prince’s search for the secret to true happiness. The show will run 120 minutes with one intermission and is recommended for ages 12 and older. Bonus: Walk on the Wild Side
July 23 • Detroit Zoo, Royal Oak
The Clinton River Watershed Council will host its Walk on the Wild Side fundraiser at 8 a.m. July 23 at the Detroit Zoo, 8450 W. 10 Mile Road in Royal Oak. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for ages 2-18, which includes early access to exhibits and animal habitats, parking, a light breakfast, games, prizes, goodie bags and more.
