FRASER — Three Fraser teachers were recognized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars on Nov. 15 for their efforts to incorporate patriotism and civic responsibility in their lesson plans for students.

CENTER LINE — The Center Line City Council has approved a proposal to apply for a state grant to place a public safety officer in Center Line Public Schools.

FARMINGTON — Students and staff at Farmington High School faced three school shooting threats over the course of eight days, Oct. 31-Nov. 8.

FARMINGTON HILLS — On Nov. 11, Farmington Hills Police Chief Jeff King issued a statement about a North Farmington High School student being arrested for posting photographs of a nonsexual nature of female students to a pornographic website.

FERNDALE — Ferndale police arrested two Ferndale High School students a day apart for separately making threats against the school. 

FERNDALE — A student at Ferndale High School has been arrested for allegedly making threats of violence on social media against the school.

ROSEVILLE — A Roseville High School student is facing charges after allegedly bringing a gun to school.

STERLING HEIGHTS/SHELBY TOWNSHIP/UTICA — On Nov. 1, Schwarzkoff Elementary School students experienced a “Day of Awesomeness."

TROY — While many teens enjoy video and computer games as a pastime, those in the Troy School District can now put their skills to the test as the district joins the communities taking part in AoE Esports, a competitive esports league.

TROY — Several local Troy restaurants are offering customers a discount while helping support Troy Public Schools.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — Principal Justin Cabe kept his word to the students at Princeton Elementary.

GROSSE POINTE WOODS — Grosse Pointe North High School students are bringing their vocal and acting talents to a classic Disney musical.

BIRMINGHAM — Groves High School will be putting on a production of “Chicago: High School Edition,” by John Kander and Fred Ebb. The first weekend of shows took place Nov. 4-6, and performances Nov. 11-13 will follow.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP/UTICA — The College Board, which administers Advanced Placement tests, has announced that 573 Utica Community Schools students have received national scholar designations.

WARREN — In observance of National Fire Prevention Month in October, students in the Center Line High School firefighting class visited kindergarten and first grade students at local schools to talk to them about fire safety.

NOVI — A Novi High School student has been suspended and faces possible charges for allegedly writing a threatening message on the bathroom wall at the school, according to Novi Police Cmdr. Jason Meier.   

MADISON HEIGHTS — As local manufacturers and business owners continue to look for skilled building tradespeople to work in their shops, educators are finding ways to share opportunities for learning trades with their students.

ROSEVILLE — On the morning of Oct. 24, Roseville High School students had the opportunity to speak to career technical education professionals from various occupations during the school’s “Career Showcase.”

EASTPOINTE — “I don’t think there’s a person out there that loved this district more than Keith Ward did,” Eastpointe Community Schools Board of Education President Jon Gruenberg said when remembering his colleague.

NOVI — After nearly three and a half years of discussion, the Novi Community School District and the city of Novi have come to an agreement to exchange some of their real estate.
