WARREN — The Hundred Club of Detroit recently awarded six Warren Police Department officers with the 2024 Valor Award for heroic action at their annual awards banquet at the Detroit Athletic Club.

ROYAL OAK — Andrew Lester, a 44-year-old Pontiac man, was fatally struck by an Amtrak train in Royal Oak on the morning of Oct. 12.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — On Oct. 4, Knights of Columbus Council No. 13983, from St. Kieran Catholic Church, presented the Shelby Township Fire Department with three dozen “Casey” teddy bears. The teddy bears are to be given to traumatized children at fire and auto accidents scenes.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — On Oct. 7, the mayor of St. Clair Shores and City Council members blasted Michigan Attorney Dana Nessel’s decision to bring felony charges against three election workers and four residents after the residents reportedly voted twice in the August primary election.

WARREN — A Warren Mott High School student was arrested Oct. 8 and is reportedly facing charges after he allegedly made threats against the school last month.

WARREN — The family of Cedric Hayden Jr. filed a $100 million lawsuit on Oct. 4 against the city of Warren and the two police officers involved in the fatal car crash that killed Hayden and his best friend, DeJuan Pettis, last month.

STERLING HEIGHTS/ROSEVILLE — The Michigan Department of Attorney General recently announced that two Sterling Heights police officers would face criminal charges for how they allegedly handled the arrest of a Roseville suspect earlier this year.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Clinton Township Police Chief Dina Carnigi said she has accomplished what she set out to do, but that it is time to move on and pass the torch.

NOVI — A 59-year-old Novi woman was killed after she exited her vehicle following a car crash Oct. 3.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The Shelby Township Fire Department will be holding an open house on Saturday for the public to come visit and see what firefighters’ jobs are all about day to day.

WARREN — A Southfield man was arraigned in 37th District Court Sept. 25 for allegedly embezzling more than $7,000 from eight adults in the Mission Point Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Warren.

WARREN — A man who allegedly set fire to his girlfriend’s home, killing her two cats and destroying the house, was arraigned in Warren’s 37th District Court by Judge Michael Chupa Sept. 24.

WARREN — The Warren Police Department was reaccredited by the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission in September and continues to be the largest police department in the state to receive the designation from that organization.

EASTPOINTE — When personnel with the 38th District Court were conducting an eviction at a home in Eastpointe late last month, they made a horrifying discovery in the basement.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — The office of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has authorized felony charges against seven people after an investigation into alleged acts of double voting during the August 2024 primary election.

EASTPOINTE — Detectives with the Eastpointe Police Department have tracked down the suspect in a hit-and-run crash that left a Roseville man dead in Eastpointe.

WARREN — A 62-year-old Livonia man was expected back in court Oct. 8, after the Warren Weekly went to press, for a probable cause hearing on charges he watched pornography in a classroom while substitute teaching.
