OAKLAND COUNTY — A West Bloomfeld man will head to prison after being convicted of a sexual assault that took place at a local golf club over 20 years ago.

BERKLEY — A vehicle pursuit in Berkley ended with an SUV crashing into a home.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A Clinton Township man was arraigned Jan. 14 for a litany of charges stemming from an incident where he allegedly held his child and the child’s mother at gunpoint.

BERKLEY — Disaster was averted as the Berkley Public Safety Department prevented a house from catching on fire and saved the lives of three chickens.

WARREN — A Detroit man was arraigned in 37th District Court in Warren Jan. 8 on charges that he shot at a police officer’s house on two different occasions.

EASTPOINTE — A Detroit man faces life in prison after allegedly driving to the home of his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend and shooting him in the chest, nearly killing him, before barricading himself at his own home and shooting through the front door at responding officers.

EASTPOINTE — An Eastpointe man was sentenced to four years in prison Jan. 7 in Macomb County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to fatally shooting his brother in their home in Eastpointe in 2023.

STERLING HEIGHTS — A Detroit rapper was arrested earlier this month on an outstanding warrant after a traffic stop by Sterling Heights police.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — On New Year’s Eve, a driver sinking into an apartment complex retention pond was rescued by a team of Clinton Township police officers.

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP — A 57-year-old woman from Oakland Township was arrested after police discovered more than 1,150 methamphetamine pills and over $37,000 in cash in her home.

WIXOM — With the assistance of the public, police have identified a suspect who allegedly robbed the Chillbox gas station on the corner of Wixom Road and Grand River Avenue in Wixom, on the border with Novi, Dec. 21.

WARREN — Firefighters from the city of Warren used their new Seek thermal cameras to navigate their way through the fire and black smoke of a simulated flashover fire during a training session last month.

FERNDALE — A 32-year-old Ferndale man was arrested after an incident where he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman and barricaded himself at home.

SOUTHFIELD — On Christmas morning at 6:26 a.m., the Southfield Fire Department responded to 24000 Walden Road to find the five-unit townhouse complex on fire.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A Macomb County jury in 41A District Court found Westland resident Jose Eugenio Medina-Hernandez guilty of two misdemeanor charges in relation to a traffic crash that killed two women in June, and on Dec. 30 a judge sentenced him to 270 days in jail with credit for time served, plus probation, community service, a fine and court costs.
