EASTPOINTE — The city of Eastpointe is looking for candidates to fill a vacancy on the five-member City Council.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — A controversial development proposal was resolved at a West Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees meeting Nov. 21.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The Clinton Township Board of Trustees has reaffirmed its change to the township’s list of named paid holidays, recognizing Indigenous Peoples Day instead of Columbus Day on the second Monday in October.

GROSSE POINTE SHORES — The forthcoming departure of Grosse Pointe Shores Finance Director/Treasurer Candice Giles — who will leave Dec. 7 to take a new job — has Shores officials searching for her replacement.

GROSSE POINTE CITY — Grosse Pointe City officials are gearing up for what they say will be needed upcoming underground infrastructure work.

SOUTHFIELD — When voters in Southfield were asked on the ballot Nov. 8 whether they were open to the city reducing the deer herd, nearly 20,000 were in favor, while more than 12,000 were against. Now city officials are left to decide what’s next.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The Clinton Township Board of Trustees approved a resolution to add Juneteenth and Martin Luther King Jr. Day as paid holidays for township employees at its Nov. 14 meeting.

EASTPOINTE — Several people gathered outside an Eastpointe building on Kelly Road that was currently under development on a brisk November morning. The building had recently been sold to the owner of Big Daddy Games and was in the process of being redeveloped for several mixed-use spaces.

NOVI — Novi City Manager Pete Auger announced his retirement last month after nearly 40 years of public service, including eight in Novi. His last day leading the city’s day-to-day operations will be Nov. 30.

SOUTHFIELD — Sherikia Hawkins has fully resigned from her position as Southfield city clerk following a plea agreement reached in Oakland County’s 6th Circuit Court, where she faced charges related to possible fraud in the 2018 general election.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — Infrastructure agreements and the purchase of fire trucks were among the items on the agenda for Macomb Township Board of Trustees Oct. 26 when they met for about a half hour during their second regular meeting of the month.

WEST BLOOMFIELD/WASHINGTON, D.C. — This past September, West Bloomfield resident Jay Kalisky was one of approximately 550 people from across the United States to travel to Washington, D.C., as part of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s Leadership Summit and Lobby Day Sept. 11-14.

GROSSE POINTE SHORES — Ordinances relating to fences and pools underwent a few changes recently in Grosse Pointe Shores that could impact residents making changes to their properties.

BEVERLY HILLS — For over 20 years, a piece of land in Beverly Hills has remained mostly vacant. Now, the village of Beverly Hills is working with Six Rivers Land Conservancy to acquire the land.

WARREN — A Macomb County Circuit Court judge has ruled that the state doesn’t have to provide grant money to replace the incinerator at Warren’s Waste Water Treatment Plant.
