MACOMB TOWNSHIP — The Macomb Township Board of Trustees took a step to expand the footprint of one of its newest parks, buying a home located around the soon-to-be Pitchford Park at its April 12 meeting.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Old, flat, unused and expensive: so says the Harrison Township Board of Trustees about a strip of land the township owns.

MOUNT CLEMENS — At its meeting on April 3, the Mount Clemens City Commission paved the way for the Administrative Hearings Bureau to have the force of law.

NOVI — The Novi City Council unanimously approved the purchase of 3.93 acres of land, located at 25901 Beck Road, from Novi Funeral Home LLC, during its regular meeting March 20.

SOUTHFIELD/LATHRUP VILLAGE — The city at “the center of it all” talked of aspirations for 2023 and beyond at the annual state of the cities address March 27.

NOVI — Residents of the historic Lake Wall subdivision, which was first deeded in 1919, have rallied after the city of Novi took legal action to remove the access privileges to Walled Lake of one of their neighbors, which they fear could remove lake access for all of them.

GROSSE POINTE FARMS — Severe flooding and basement backups from a record-breaking rainstorm in June 2021 resulted in billing confusion for the Grosse Pointes-Clinton Refuse Disposal Authority, which serves the five Grosse Pointes and Harper Woods.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — On March 24, representatives from Shelby Township and the Macomb County Chamber of Commerce came together for the State of the Township address to share a comprehensive look at the recent accomplishments and plans in the township.

MOUNT CLEMENS — The Mount Clemens City Commission approved a motion to change the 65 Market Street tax capture and reimbursement plan at its March 20 meeting.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Shelby Township is asking residents for their input through a survey to help plan the township’s updates to its master plan and its annual top priorities.

GROSSE POINTE CITY — Grosse Pointe City’s Urban Forestry Commission continues to spread its roots.

BIRMINGHAM — Jana Ecker has been unanimously selected by the Birmingham City Commission as the next Birmingham city manager.

BERKLEY/ROYAL OAK — The 44th District Court will have a new judge taking on the robe and gavel later this month.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP —  Clinton Township has a budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year as of the March 27 Board of Trustees meeting. The township’s fiscal year ends on March 31 and begins on April 1 annually.

MADISON HEIGHTS/HAZEL PARK — The Madison Heights/Hazel Park Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual State of the Cities event March 23, at Eastern Palace Club in Hazel Park.

WARREN — Patrick Green can remain on the Warren City Council and continue his role as its president through November 2023, the end of his term.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — A request for a special land use and site plan approval for a 40-unit, five-story condominium development by Jefferson Plaza LLC was tabled by the St. Clair Shores City Council on March 20 after a 5-2 vote.

WARREN — Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Joseph Toia ruled in his written opinion and order on March 23 that Warren Mayor James Fouts can stay on the ballot and run for mayor for an unprecedented fifth four-year term.

FARMINGTON HILLS — In the 1800s, the city now known as Farmington Hills was known as Quakertown.
