OAKLAND COUNTY — Last November, local residents approved the Oakland County Public Transportation Millage, which authorized the county to levy a millage for the purpose of funding transportation services throughout Oakland County.

MOUNT CLEMENS — Goodbye green trucks, hello yellow. Mount Clemens residents will soon see Priority Waste’s trucks rolling down their streets after the City Commission granted the company a contract as its residential waste hauler on June 5.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The Clinton Township Board of Trustees have updated the terms of the George George Park construction project, approving the changes at its May 30 meeting.

HAZEL PARK — Hazel Park’s tax rate will decrease slightly with the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, due to a small change in the amount levied for economic development and the city’s Downtown Development Authority.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — Bloomfield Township was awarded $4.4 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds, and township officials have recently decided how the money should be used.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — As Macomb Township arranges its budget for the coming year, the township board of trustees approved changes on May 24 to make sure the past year’s finances were accurately reported.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — Residents in St. Clair Shores have launched a fundraising effort to save the city’s water tower, a landmark they say holds great historical significance.

GROSSE POINTE CITY — Like several of its neighbors, Grosse Pointe City is hoping to secure state funding for water and sewer infrastructure projects.

GREATER WEST BLOOMFIELD — West Bloomfield native Noah Arbit took office Jan. 1 as the representative for state House District 20, which comprises all of West Bloomfield Township, eastern Commerce Township along the M-5/Haggerty corridor, Orchard Lake, Keego Harbor, Sylvan Lake, and the northwestern-most part of Bloomfield Township along Square Lake and Telegraph roads.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — There was trash talk in the township hall’s meeting room on May 10, as the Macomb Township Board of Trustees voted to continue contracting with GFL Environmental for residential waste hauling.
