CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Residents of North Miles Road, a neighborhood located off of Little Mack Avenue and west of Groesbeck Highway, came out to speak about a paving special assessment at the Dec. 4 Clinton Township Board of Trustees meeting.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A new development in a nearly two-year-long residential development saga occurred at the Dec. 11 Harrison Township Board of Trustees meeting as the board unanimously approved a rezoning request for former L’Anse Creuse Public Schools land.

ROYAL OAK — Royal Oak’s city manager has resigned from his position, and the city has elevated the deputy city manager to serve in the top job for the time being.

PLEASANT RIDGE — At its Nov. 14 meeting, the Pleasant Ridge City Commission received a presentation about a community survey with resident feedback on a host of city issues.

TROY — The city of Troy will move forward with renovations to its City Council chambers after permission to use Community Development Block Grant funds to upgrade a local property to be an inclusive park were denied.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — Residents and organizations looking to make the most out of Macomb Township’s newest parks have some additional fine print to read following the Dec. 6 Board of Trustees meeting.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — At a special meeting Nov. 1, the West Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees approved raises for all township employees and elected officials.

MOUNT CLEMENS — For its penultimate meeting of 2023, the full Mount Clemens City Commission showed up on Dec. 4 for a regular meeting headlined by water project funding and a work session about the apartment complex set to replace the old motel at 1 North River Road.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — At the St. Clair Shores City Council meeting on Nov. 20, newly elected council members and reelected incumbents took their oaths of office.

NOVI — Justin Fischer’s election as mayor has left a vacancy on the Novi City Council, which, according to the city charter, must be filled by a council appointee within 30 days or otherwise will require a special election.

NOVI — There is a new mayor in town, and his name is Justin Fischer.

TROY — Oakland County has a new county commissioner and Troy has a new City Council member following a sudden shake-up after the Nov. 7 election.

METRO DETROIT — Governor Gretchen Whitmer has issued a call for a special election to fill the Michigan House of Representatives seats vacated by newly elected Warren Mayor Lori M. Stone and Westland Mayor Kevin Coleman, who represented District 13 and District 25, respectively.

BIRMINGHAM — At a City Commission meeting Nov. 13, Therese Longe officially passed the gavel to Elaine McLain. Longe nominated McLain to serve as mayor and was backed by a unanimous vote of the City Commission.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — Township officials have taken a step toward expanding the 23 Mile Road public safety complex by making an offer to buy an adjoining property.
