OAKLAND COUNTY — At his State of the County address at The Hawk Community Center in Farmington Hills April 4, Oakland County Executive Dave Coulter painted an optimistic picture of where things stand in the county.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Things got heated at a Clinton Township Board of Trustees special meeting at noon on April 8, the day of the eclipse, culminating in supervisor Bob Cannon breaking his gavel.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Township Supervisor Bob Cannon, who has served on the Clinton Township Board of Trustees for 40 years, is not seeking reelection this fall.

CLAWSON — The Clawson fiscal year 2024-2025 goals and objectives were approved in a 3-2 vote at the City Council meeting April 2.

ROSEVILLE — The Roseville City Council unanimously approved the purchase of several trucks for the Department of Public Services at its March 26 meeting.

NOVI — The Novi City Council narrowly approved the city’s 2023 Active Mobility Plan during its regular meeting March 18.

SOUTHFIELD — Southfield Mayor Ken Siver and Lathrup Village Mayor Kelly Garrett  delivered their annual addresses at the Southfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s meeting March 25. They delivered a recap to the community March 28, followed by a question-and-answer session.

ROSEVILLE — Roseville is hoping to pull in more grant funds after the City Council approved a contract with a grant writer at its March 26 meeting.

NOVI — Curb-to-curb and door-to-door public transportation services throughout Oakland, Livingston, Washtenaw and Wayne counties will soon be readily available to residents of the city of Novi, as the City Council narrowly approved a resolution March 18 to name the People’s Express as its mode of transportation services for the elderly, disabled and all others ages 14 and older.

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP — Oakland Township has a new township manager, Joseph Merucci, as long as a contract can be negotiated.

EASTPOINTE — The Eastpointe City Council recently passed a motion to purchase 18 surveillance cameras to install around the city.

CLAWSON — The Clawson City Council continued the discussion regarding its 2024-2025 goals and objectives with plenty of critiques and comments at the March 19 council meeting.

GROSSE POINTE CITY — Grosse Pointe City voters will be asked this August to weigh in on a bond to pay for sewer system infrastructure improvements that officials believe will sharply decrease the risk of future basement flooding and sewage backups.

FERNDALE — The city of Ferndale is looking at the possibility of bringing forth a millage to residents this November.

BERKLEY — The city of Berkley soon will have a big change of leadership in its city government.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Two proposals in the Michigan Legislature aim to change the way the state supports municipalities. The Madison Heights City Council has issued a resolution in support, with officials saying it would help the city cover essential services without increasing taxes.

ROSEVILLE — The wheels are in motion in Roseville to use the bond money that voters approved last November for a variety of municipal projects ranging from fire station upgrades to a splash pad.

EASTPOINTE — Mayor Michael Klinefelt officiated his first State of the City address March 19 at the Lutheran Fraternities of America Hall Post No. 57.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — At its March 18 meeting, the St. Clair Shores City Council awarded a bid for the Senior Activity Center parking lot construction in a 6-0 vote. The contract went to Metropolitan Concrete.

EASTPOINTE — The “road diet” plan to change Nine Mile Road from five lanes to three lanes between Pleasant and Tuscany avenues has been nixed.
