EASTPOINTE — The cities of Eastpointe, Harper Woods and Detroit are working together to come up with a plan to redesign a stretch of Kelly Road.

CLAWSON — The Clawson Planning Commission on March 26 passed a motion 5-3 for a proposed planned unit development that, if approved by the City Council, would develop a former bank site into an apartment building on Main Street.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — Projects to make Macomb Township more walkable are underway as $1 million has been allocated to closing gaps between sidewalks.

EASTPOINTE — Mayor Michael Klinefelt officiated his first State of the City address March 19 at the Lutheran Fraternities of America Hall Post No. 57.

STERLING HEIGHTS — An over three-hour discussion at the March 19 Sterling Heights City Council meeting over a proposal to put apartments along Brougham Drive ended in a 3-4 vote, causing the proposal to be rejected.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Canteen Golf and Billiards isn’t just a place to unwind. It’s a place to give back. The new business, replacing the former ACO Hardware in a strip mall at 41601 Garfield Road, offers golf simulators and pool tables with a variety of games. While the fun center is available to everyone, it puts a special emphasis on veterans.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — At its March 18 meeting, the St. Clair Shores City Council awarded a bid for the Senior Activity Center parking lot construction in a 6-0 vote. The contract went to Metropolitan Concrete.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — Restaurant Week, presented by the Nautical Mile Merchant’s Association, is a little earlier this year and will feature specials from participating restaurants.

FARMINGTON — A project that has been on the minds of Farmington officials for years may be on the road to completion.The Maxfield Training Center, located at 33000 Thomas St., is a 3-acre parcel of land in the city’s downtown.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A proposed condominium development remains in limbo after the Harrison Township Planning Commission voted on March 21 to table its decision to a later meeting.

TROY — The Troy Chamber of Commerce celebrated its most prolific members from the past year with its Business Excellence Awards Ceremony March 7.

FERNDALE — Projects relating to pipe and sewer work in Ferndale were approved by the City Council at its last meeting. At its March 11 meeting, the council approved a cured-in-place pipe rehabilitation project and a sewer cleaning and televising project in Ferndale.

MOUNT CLEMENS — Much can change in the span of a year. About half a year into the Cairns Community Center’s reopening and acquisition by the city of Mount Clemens, city officials agreed to extend the operating partnership with TCB Youth Mentoring and Advancing Macomb’s “Breaking Barriers to Play” program.

STERLING HEIGHTS — A developer is offering a “square” deal to build space for new retail businesses on the south side of 15 Mile Road, west of Schoenherr Road.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A new way to cross the Clinton River Spillway will soon arrive.Harrison Township is building a new pedestrian bridge to connect the spillway along Jefferson Avenue, budgeting $3.45 million for the bridge and associated walkways.

AUBURN HILLS — On March 1, the Michigan Department of Transportation announced the award of a state Transportation Economic Development Fund grant that will support critical redevelopment efforts at the site of the former Palace of Auburn Hills.
