SHELBY TOWNSHIP/UTICA — Shelby Township hosted its Memorial Day ceremony on May 26 at the Shelby Township Veterans Memorial, and Utica hosted its ceremony at Memorial Park downtown on the same day in remembrance of all those who died in service to the nation.

ROYAL OAK — The Royal Oak-based Ezra Parker Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, held a naturalization ceremony May 29 to swear in 25 new citizens of the United States.

TROY — Families of children ages 0-13 are invited to join the Troy Public Library for a summer kickoff 6-8 p.m. June 14.

NOVI — Dear Asian Youth Novi, in conjunction with the city of Novi and the Novi Public Library, will hold its second annual Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Festival from 1 to 5 p.m. June 2 at Fuerst Park.

SOUTHFIELD — The work of 14 Jewish American artists will adorn the walls of Southfield’s City Hall, 26000 Evergreen Road, until July 31.

TROY — Saisha Srivatsan, a senior at Athens High School, was awarded the 90 Point Cup at the Michigan Music Festival for her piano performance March 4 at the Rochester Conservatory of Music.

NOVI — The city of Novi will be celebrating the holiday with its annual Memorial Day run and parade.

MADISON HEIGHTS/HAZEL PARK — The 2024 Madison Heights Memorial Day Parade will take place May 25, while the city of Hazel Park's parade will take place May 27.
