ROCHESTER — The city of Rochester is updating its parks and recreation master plan to help shape goals, objectives and potential projects for the next five years.

NOVI — The Novi Community School District was able to ensure it will recieve its full share of funding for the foreseeable future Aug. 8 with the passage of its operating and recreational millages.

DETROIT — A Detroit native who’s won acclaim for his work in multiple musical genres is returning home as the Artist-in-Residence for the 44th annual Detroit Jazz Festival.

GROSSE POINTE PARK — There was plenty of buzz at the polls for the Aug. 8 Grosse Pointe Park City Council primary, but it had nothing to do with the candidates.

BERKLEY/ROYAL OAK — A man was found dead by police after he was involved in a car crash at 10:17 a.m. Aug. 10 near Coolidge Highway and Webster Road in Berkley, near the border with Royal Oak.

BERKLEY/CLAWSON — Voters in the Berkley and Clawson school districts both voted to approve bond proposals during the Aug. 8 election.

FERNDALE — Hundreds of cars packed into downtown Ferndale this past weekend for the city’s annual Dream Cruise festivities.

BIRMINGHAM — FAR Therapeutic Arts and Recreation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, provides resources and services for people with special needs in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — The first CAR-T therapy patient at Corewell Health’s Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, plans to walk his daughter down the aisle in September.

BIRMINGHAM — Residents, visitors and other members of the community are encouraged to share feedback on what they would like to see in downtown Birmingham.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP —The Shelby Township Police Department will once again be hosting its annual Police Department open house event next month.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Thanks to grant funding, the Shelby Township Senior Center recently received a brand-new outdoor fitness park for local seniors to use.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — The Harrison Township Board of Trustees met on Aug. 14 as a smaller board than usual handling a number of items related to people and equipment of the township. 

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Two routine committee appointments may turn out more critical to the future of said committees after comments made at the Aug. 14 Board of Trustees meeting.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — It was a short session for the Macomb Township Board of Trustees on Aug. 9, with the board mostly focusing on housekeeping items and formalities.
