METRO DETROIT — Corewell Health in Southeast Michigan has compiled a list of the top baby names in the state for 2023, with Noah and Charlotte taking the top spots.

HAZEL PARK — A tragic accident recently occurred during a military training exercise, killing a 2018 graduate of Hazel Park High School.  Sgt. Matthew Bylski died in a vehicle rollover Dec. 12 at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, located in Oceanside, Calif.

METRO DETROIT/LANSING — The Michigan Lottery contributed more than $1.3 billion to the School Aid Fund in 2023, marking the fifth consecutive year the agency’s contribution has topped $1 billion.

FRASER — A former Fraser employee has pleaded guilty to charges of embezzling more than $100,000 in city funds.

METRO DETROIT — On Dec. 19, the Michigan Governor’s Office and the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential announced $50 million in grants to before- and after-school programs.

METRO DETROIT — The Macomb County sheriff and the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said nine search warrants were executed in six municipalities Dec. 13, busting an alleged prostitution ring that extended throughout metro Detroit and beyond.
