1. Grand Raven Festival
Starting Sept. 30 • Downtown Farmington
The Grand Raven Festival in downtown Farmington comprises multiple events and activities during October: the displaying of raven themed-scarecrows; Victorian walks and story time hosted by the Farmington Community Library; a pumpkin carving contest and exhibition; movie nights, including one sponsored by a funeral home; trick or treating; a haunted farmers market; and more. To set the mood just night — er, we mean right — the city will welcome back its favorite spirit animal, Edgar the Grand Raven, for an opening celebration from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30. Participants are encouraged to wear feathers and raven attire, grab their Syndicate beverage, and wind through the streets to Masonic Plaza with Detroit's Gabriel Brass Band. 2. Walk to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence
Oct. 2 • Southfield Municipal Campus
The 2022 Walk to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Southfield Municipal Campus, 26000 Evergreen Road. Now in its third year, the free event coincides with October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The 2-mile walk will be preceded by a press conference where officials will discuss the impact of domestic violence on the community and the resources available to address it. 3. ‘Little Shop of Horrors’

See Audrey II and Seymour during Stagecrafters' opening weekend of “Little Shop of Horrors” at the Baldwin Theatre, 415 S. Lafayette Ave. in Royal Oak. Hound Hike
Leave your furry friends at home so you can focus your attention on adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens during Hound Hike, scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve, 333 N. Hill Circle in Rochester Hills. Take the animals for a walk in the woods; browse the pop-up shop for dog and cat beds, pet toy boxes, dog and cat holiday ornaments, and more, with all proceeds going to Paws For Life; learn the benefits of positive reinforcement by playing a training game; and bring a photo of your pet — or email one to grace@pawsforliferescue.org in advance — and purchase a portrait for $10.
