3. Macomb County Polar Plunge
Feb. 18 • Harrison Township
A few weeks ago C & G previewed the Oakland County Polar Plunge, which shattered its 2022 total of $106,497 by raising more than $122,300 for Special Olympics Michigan in 2023. This weekend it's the east side's turn, as the Macomb County Polar Plunge will feature brave souls jumping into the cold water near MacRay Harbor, 30675 N. River Road in Harrison Township.
While the plunge itself will take place at noon on Saturday, there's a number of activities planned to help the organization reach its goal of $60,000. This includes a pre-party with live music by The Reefermen, 50-50 drawings, raffle baskets and more from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday. The cover is a minimum $10 donation. The following morning, the Frozen 5K charity walk/run will begin its check-in at 8 a.m. Saturday. Participants will meet at MacRay Harbor and take a bus to the Freedom Trail entrance at 16 Mile and Crocker roads, then shuttle back by approximately 10 a.m. All will receive a long-sleeve shirt and medal, and any plungers and 5K participants who raise $100 or more will earn a free lunch.
