1. Detroit Shrine Circus
Feb. 9-12 • Novi
The Detroit Shrine Circus will bring its big top to the Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Ave. in Novi, for eight performances in four days. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Thursday; 4 and 7:30 p.m. Friday; noon, 4 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and 1 and 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $50 for VIP ring side to $25 for bleachers; parking costs $10. 2. Wings: A Celtic Celebration of Dance
Feb. 11 • Clinton Township
Wings: A Celtic Celebration of Dance will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Macomb Center for the Perfoming Arts on the Macomb Community College - Center Campus, 44575 Garfield Road in Clinton Township. The show promises "exquisite Irish and World Champion dancers, together with Ireland’s finest musical and vocal virtuosos."
The following day, the Warren Symphony Orchestra will perform a concert titled Love Is In The Air — featuring "pieces composed for and about love and romance" — at 3 p.m. Sunday, also at the Macomb Center. The WSO is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

3. Outdoor skating events
Feb. 10 & 11 • Sterling Heights
The Dodge Park Ice Rink, 40260 Utica Road in Sterling Heights, will host two outdoor events this weekend. Participants can play I-Spy, True or False and Word Scrambles while skating during Game Night from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. These activities will also be held Feb. 24.
As a prelude to Valentine's Day, love birds are invited back the following day for Date Night from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. Each couple who attends will receive a sweet treat.

4. Street snowboarding
Feb. 11 • Detroit
More than 40 of the world’s top street snowboard athletes are scheduled to compete at the Red Bull Heavy Metal event at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hart Plaza, 1 Hart Plaza in Detroit. The course will feature three zones: The Wall, in which competitors try to reach the top of a 20-foot-tall slab of concrete; The Kink Rail, which descends a set of stairs wedged between the walls of Hart Plaza; and The Down Rail, which cascades 50 feet down the steps of the Hart Plaza amphitheater. 5. 'Wait Until Dark'
Feb. 10-12 • Farmington Hills
The Farmington Players will stage “Wait Until Dark” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Farmington Players Barn Theater, 32332 W. 12 Mile Road in Farmington Hills. The story focuses on a blind woman named Susie Hendrix, who gets terrorized in her apartment after violent criminals show up to retrieve a drug-filled doll that was put in her husband's luggage by a stranger. The thriller, which takes place in New York, was first performed on Broadway in 1966. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased at farmingtonplayers.org or by calling (248) 553-2955.
