2. 'Matilda the Musical'
April 7-9 • Royal Oak
Stagecrafters’ production of “Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical” will be performed at 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Baldwin Theatre, located at 415 S. Lafayette Ave. in Royal Oak. "Matilda” is the story of a little girl with “wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers,” a press release states. “Unloved by her cruel parents and picked on by her school’s mean headmistress, Matilda faces obstacles with courage and cleverness in equal amounts.” Future performances will take place April 13-16 and 20-23. 3. Graduate degree art exhibit
April 8-9 • Bloomfield Hills
A preview party for the 2023 Graduate Degree Exhibition of Cranbrook Academy of Art will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Cranbrook Art Museum, 39221 Woodward Ave. in Bloomfield Hills. ArtMembers can attend for free, while general admission is $20 per person. The show — which is a culmination of two years of studio work from 68 students who are anticipating graduating in the spring — will continue April 9-May 14. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; the museum is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. 5. Sensory-friendly science event
April 8 • Detroit
In recognition of Autism Acceptance Month, the Judson Center and Michigan Science Center will host sensory-friendly activities and inclusive spaces from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the science center, located at 5020 John R St. in Detroit. The fun includes building with giant LEGO bricks, playing with Insta-Snow and Mars water excavation sensory tables, and working on coloring pages and trivia.
