FERNDALE — Ferndale High School and Ferndale Middle School were closed Monday, Nov. 14, after the district was the target of a threat on social media.
According to a letter sent to the community by Ferndale Public Schools Superintendent Bobbie Goodrum Nov. 13, an anonymous Instagram account made a “specific threat” against Ferndale High School.
Because of the threat, the district decided to close both the high school and the middle school on Monday.
“The safety and security of our students and staff is our highest priority,” Goodrum stated. “We encourage anyone who has any information regarding this matter to visit our website and submit an anonymous report via OK2SAY (www.ferndaleschools.org/district/about/safety/ok2say).”
