MOUNT CLEMENS — City commissioners took a step toward keeping downtown Mount Clemens clean at their Sept. 18 meeting by setting a date for a downtown maintenance program public hearing.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — Erin Terina Maria Patton lived for 16 days. Born on Sept. 18, 2001, Tammy and Cliff Patton’s fourth child and first daughter had a number of complications.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A public hearing for road improvement projects on Cortez Street, Santose Street and Carno Circle was held at the Sept. 25 Harrison Township Board of Trustees meeting.

MADISON HEIGHTS — Several businesses in Madison Heights are among the recipients of state funds that will pay for the training of employees.

HAZEL PARK — Authorities believe they have captured the second suspect in a shooting that killed two men last year in Hazel Park.

MADISON HEIGHTS — A car show and barbecue cook-off will celebrate both hobbies while raising money for a good cause. The fundraiser, Motorama & Smoke, will take place Saturday, Oct. 14, at Madison High School, located at 915 E. 11 Mile Road. The car show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the cook-off is from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

MADISON HEIGHTS — In back-to-back incidents, two pedestrians were struck by motorists in Madison Heights, killing one and sending the other to the hospital.

WEST BLOOMFIELD — Former West Bloomfield coach and now University of Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy brought some much-needed confidence to the West Bloomfield squad Sept. 22 as they faced Rochester Adams.

WARREN — With police cars on-site and suspects on the loose, the scene near Warren Woods Tower High School on the afternoon of Sept. 14 looked like something from an action movie.

WARREN — Four teens were arraigned in the 37th District Court on Sept. 25 and will be tried as adults for the attempted murder and attempted robbery of a 26-year-old man, who was left in critical condition after a shooting earlier this month.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — As Utica Eisenhower traveled to Romeo for a Macomb Area Conference Red football showdown, a crowd of thousands also was in attendance for a moving annual tribute.

NOVI — Detroit Catholic Central has unveiled a new dual enrollment program this fall with one of its educators facilitating a Northwood University course for high school students.

SOUTHFIELD/FARMINGTON HILLS —  September is National Suicide Prevention Month and local leaders in Farmington Hills, Southfield and Oak Park are seeking solutions for this fatal issue.

METRO DETROIT —  September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and experts want to raise awarenss of the issue and let the public know that resources are out there for those suffering from suicidal thoughts and those who may know someone else who is.
