DETROIT — It may be cold in Michigan, but the Friends of the Detroit River and Detroit Historical Society are inviting the public to join them and learn more about the environment with its Shiver on the River celebration.

The Shiver on the River event is an environmental fair that includes free family fun, food, and entertainment in belated celebration of World Wetlands Day. It will include a family-fun passport activity encouraging participants to visit each exhibitor’s table and learn more about environmental topics shared by Friends of the Detroit River partner organizations.

Guests can also expect to see a magic show, get free caricatures done, and watch a live ice carving. Concessions will be available for a small fee.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3. It takes place at the Dossin Museum on Belle Isle in Detroit, located at 100 The Strand Road. The typical daily fee to visit the Dossin Museum will be waived for visitors.
