Novi to have tree-lighting
NOVI — The annual “Light the Lights” tree-lighting ceremony is scheduled to take place 6-9 p.m. Nov. 17 at Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk, 44175 W. 12 Mile Road. The free event will commemorate the start of the holiday season with fireworks, the tree-lighting, live music and visits with Santa. For more information, visit cityofnovi.org/lightthelights.
City of Novi working with FlashVote
NOVI — The city of Novi is working with FlashVote to engage the community and gather valuable input from residents to inform its decisions, according to a press release. Those who respond online will have a choice to participate in surveys via email, text or phone call. Participants will receive a notification whenever there is a new survey, and they will have 48 hours to participate before voting closes. Once a survey is closed, everyone who participated will automatically receive a summary of the overall results and be able to see how their responses compare to the group, the release states. Personal or demographic information is not shared with the city or anyone else. Residents can sign up online at flashvote.com/cityofnovi or call (775) 235-2240 to participate by phone or text only.
Emagine Theatres to offer free tickets to vets for Veterans Day
METRO DETROIT — In celebration of Veterans Day, all Emagine Theatre locations will hand out free tickets to veterans and active members of the military Nov. 13. Tickets will be good for any movie offered that day and in any format, including 3D. Tickets must be picked up in person.
Veterans and active military personnel must present proof of service in the form of a service identification card or discharge papers to receive the tickets. Tickets are limited to one ticket per veteran.
Crafters and vendors needed for bazaar to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association
NOVI — Rose Senior Living is seeking crafters and vendors for its holiday bazaar, which will take place 1-3 p.m. Dec. 2 at its Novi location, 47400 Heritage Drive. The event is a benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association. The facility is asking that vendors provide one item to be auctioned off in exchange for the use of a 6-foot table. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Charity hockey game to include Detroit Red Wings Alumni
PLYMOUTH — The Detroit Red Wings Alumni will take on a team of U.S. veterans, frontline workers and first responders at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at the USA Hockey Arena, 14900 Beck Road in Plymouth. The Hockey Hearts and Heroes game is presented by the Sergei Fedorov Foundation and will benefit the Living and Learning Enrichment Center in Northville, which works to enhance the lives of people with disabilities.
Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 6-11, and they are free for children ages 5 and younger. To purchase tickets, go to usahockeyarena.com/HHH.
