Goodfellows paper sale set for Dec. 2
The St. Clair Shores Goodfellows will be selling papers across the city from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 2 to raise money for families in need.
Those interested in contributing to the “No kiddie without a Christmas” cause can buy a paper from the Goodfellows or help sell them.
“Newspapers to sell can be picked up at the Central Fire Station located at 26700 Harper, between 10 Mile and 11 Mile Road,” the release states.
Jingle Mingle celebrates downtown businesses
From noon to 5 p.m. on Dec. 2, patrons can enjoy the Jingle Mingle held in downtown St. Clair Shores, according to an email.
The event highlights the businesses downtown with sales, kids crafts inside the businesses and other activities. This is not a social district event.
According to the email, there will be a Christmas tree lighting outside of Greater Chiropractic and Casali Holiday Dancers will perform at 4:45 p.m.
“This event is about spotlighting all our great shops, businesses, restaurants, bars, etc. in Downtown,” Sasha Murphy, manager of the Downtown St. Clair Shores media pages, said in the email. “We think it will be a festive afternoon to eat, shop, and play local.”
Candlelight Memorial to be held for deceased children
The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting St. Clair Shores Chapter is holding their 16th Annual Candlelight Memorial to honor the lives of children who have died.
The memorial is from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the St. Margaret of Scotland Parish located at 21201 13 Mile Road between Little Mack Avenue and Harper Avenue. There will be special readings, music, lighting of the candles at 7 p.m. and announcing the names of the deceased children.

“The Worldwide Candle Lighting gives bereaved families everywhere the opportunity to remember their children so that their lights may always shine,” an event announcement read. “We invite all parents, family and friends to come and share with others who understand and feel the same kind of grief.”
Optimist Club to host ‘no sew’ blanket-making parties
The Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores invites the community to join them for no sew blanket-making parties from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 28 at the Lakeview Administration Building, 27575 Harper Avenue, just south of 11 Mile Road.
Those interested should bring a good pair of scissors and a fleece “no sew” blanket-making kit. These kits should include two sides of flannel material and are available at JOANN fabric stores or vendors such as Amazon.
According to a press release, all blankets made will be donated to the Macomb Foster Closet. All community members and students are welcome.
