HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Benvenuto Family Restaurant on Jefferson Avenue will be closed indefinitely after an early morning fire on Jan. 18.
“At about 1:10 (a.m.) this morning, we received a call for a commercial fire,” Harrison Township Fire Marshal Lawrence Shackett said. “Upon arrival, we had heavy smoke showing, heavy flames showing.”
The restaurant is a “total loss,” according to Shackett, who is currently investigating the cause of the fire. Shackett expects his report on the fire will be ready in several weeks. There were no injuries.
Shackett says the fire was a “first-alarm fire,” triggering a mutual aid response from the Mount Clemens, Clinton Township and Selfridge Air National Guard fire departments to assist Harrison Township firefighters.
