1. Light the Village
Nov. 18 • Village of Rochester Hills
Experience 350,000-plus colored lights and a Christmas-themed fireworks display during the annual Light the Village event from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Village of Rochester Hills, 104 N. Adams Road. There will also be live musical entertainment, including performances by carolers, local choirs and school bands; visits and photos with Santa Claus; food trucks; stilt walkers and jugglers; and free face painting and arts and crafts activities. Santa will continue to make weekly appearances at the 375,000-square-foot outdoor shopping center through Christmas Eve. Guests can meet and snap a pic with him in a cozy outdoor winter setting; just bring your own camera during the free walk-up sessions. Of note this weekend, children with sensory, physical or other developmental needs are invited to come from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, while pets and their owners can stop by from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Also, some of Santa's reindeer will fly in from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Festival of Trees
Shop for trees, wreaths, centerpieces, tablescapes and more from 10 a.m to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Rochester Community House, 816 Ludlow Ave. Santa will also come to town from noon to 5 p.m. both days. ‘A Christmas Carol’
The classic holiday show will be staged on select dates Nov. 18-Dec. 24 at Meadow Brook Theatre, 378 Meadow Brook Road in Rochester. Opening weekend performances will be at 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Holiday Art Market

2. A Ford House Christmas
Starting Nov. 18 • Ford House, Grosse Pointe Shores
The Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, 1100 Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe Shores, will invite guests to tour the historic home every half hour from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. until Dec. 30. Festivities will also take place in the Visitor Center with holiday crafts and entertainment. Concessions will be available. 3. Winter, Wine & Whimsy
Nov. 17-19 • Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk, Novi
The city of Novi will host its traditional holiday market — dubbed Winter, Wine & Whimsy — from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at Twelve Mile Crossing at Fountain Walk, 44175 W. 12 Mile Road. Participants can enjoy holiday-themed food and drinks from restaurants, the newly created social district, shopping at an artisan market, live entertainment, visits with Santa, the kids’ alley, outdoor games and activities, and fire pits.
In addition, ladies-only night will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at The HUB Stadium inside Fountain Walk; the city's tree-lighting ceremony will happen at 6:30 p.m. Friday; and breakfast with Santa will be from 10 a.m. to noon at The Hub Stadium. 4. Jingle & Mingle
Nov. 18-19 • The dot, Ferndale
The city of Ferndale and its Downtown Development Authority will host the inaugural Jingle & Mingle from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday at the community space by The dot, 221 W. Troy St. The family-friendly event will feature music by local DJs, hot cocoa, festive décor, specialty drinks, a fleet of mini-electric vehicles for kids to ride and more. Guests are asked to contribute to a nonperishable food drive to benefit the Renaissance Vineyard Community Food Pantry, and in turn will have a chance to win an Amish turkey. 5. Holiday parade/tree-lighting
Nov. 18 • Macomb Mall, Roseville
Macomb Mall, 32233 Gratiot Ave. in Roseville, will hold its holiday parade and tree-lighting from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the south court near Hobby Lobby. The free event will include a meet-and-greet with Buddy the Elf and the Christmas Elf, balloon twisting, music by the Roseville High School Marching Band, ornament-making with the Recreation Authority of Roseville and Eastpointe, and more.
