1. Monster Jam
March 11-12 Detroit

See Grave Digger, Megalodon and other car-crushing trucks during Monster Jam at 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Ford Field, 2000 Brush St. in Detroit. Arrive an hour early each day to hear driver interviews, go behind the scenes with the pit crew, experience the opening ceremonies and truck introductions, partake in giveaways and more. Tickets start at $20. Additional tickets can be purchased for a Pit Party Early Access Pass, with activities beginning at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. Sunday, and a Post-Event Driver Meet and Greet. 2. 'Lend Me A Tenor'
March 10-12 Birmingham

“Lend Me a Tenor” will be staged at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Birmingham Village Players, 34660 Woodward Ave. The comedy — which is a play, not a musical — is set in 1934 and tells the story of an opera company who hires a world-famous Italian tenor for a fundraiser, only to have to dress up an assistance on stage after a series of mishaps leaves everyone to believe the real singer has died. 'Misery'
The Avon Players will perform "Misery" at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. The thriller, based on the Stephen King novel, will also run March 17-19 and 24-25. Tickets cost $25. 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee'
The Warren Civic Theatre will perform the musical comedy “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday, at the Owen Jax Recreation Center, 8207 E. Nine Mile Road. Tickets range from $14 to $18 and can be purchased at warrencivic.org.


3. 'Creative Michigan: Making The Mitten Modern'
March 10 -11 • Clinton Township

“Creative Michigan: Making The Mitten Modern” will be on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Lorenzo Cultural Center, on Macomb Community College’s Center Campus, 44575 Garfield Road in Clinton Township. The exhibit features photographs, artifacts, clothing and more celebrating the state’s role in the evolution of modern architecture and design history. The items are from the Detroit Historical Museum, the Alden B. 4. Leprechaun Days
March 11-12 • Lake Orion

Canterbury Village, 2325 Joslyn Road in Lake Orion, will hold its yearly St. Patrick's Day celebration, called Leprechaun Days, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Families can search for six color coins scattered around the grounds and turn them in at participating shops for a prize, as well as take photos with leprechauns, visit a petting zoo, listen to a kid-friendly DJ and toast s'mores over fire pits. Tickets cost $5 in advance at canterburyvillage.com/events/leprechaun-days; children 2 and younger will be admitted for free. Organizers are also asking for a donation of a nonperishable food item for the Village Food Pantry. Lucky Leprechaun 5K run/walk
Come be Irish for a day during the Lucky Leprechaun 5K run/walk at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in downtown Utica. There are also 1-mile run/walk and virtual options available. A costume contest will take place at 10:15 a.m., with the race awards presentation at 11:15 a.m. Post-race parties will be offered at various local establishments. For more information, including costs and start/finish locations, visit cityofutica.org/news_detail_T5_R26.php.


5. 'Science of the Cookie'
March 11-12 • Detroit

The Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan, along with Michigan Science Center educators and edibleWOW, will offer scientific cookie demonstrations each weekend through April 9 at the Michigan Science Center, 5020 John R in Detroit. Activities include “Cookie Nightmares,” a guessing game using cooking fails, and “Cookie Excavation,” in which participants use tools to carefully remove chocolate chips from a tasty treat and map their locations on a grid. The group will also sell its famous cookies on site, and is hosting an online contest for visitors to vote on their favorites for a chance to win prizes.
